The Saint Anthony Hospital Emergency Department (ED) provides comprehensive medical services for a full range of emergency situations, including injuries, major illnesses, and symptoms of serious medical conditions.

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the ED is staffed around-the-clock with Emergency Medicine board-certified physicians and expert staff to care for patients of all ages.

Our emergency team is compassionate, bilingual, and dedicated, bringing diverse expertise and backgrounds to provide the exceptional care you need.

When to visit the ED

Common conditions treated include:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Chest pain
  • Infections
  • Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
  • Pregnancy-related problems, including severe pain and vaginal bleeding
  • Severe headaches
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sprains and broken bones
  • Stroke symptoms (weakness, numbness, dizziness and difficulty speaking)
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Wounds (including animal bites)

Patients have access to specialists 24/7 for quicker diagnosis and treatment, including faster hospital admission if necessary.

Saint Anthony Hospital is an IDPH designated Stroke Center. 

Pediatric Critical Care

Saint Anthony Hospital is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) with capabilities to meet emergency and critical care needs of seriously ill and injured children.

24/7 coverage by Pediatric Critical Care Physicians

Saint Anthony is also one of the only hospitals in the area with a pediatric inpatient unit in the event your child needs to be admitted.
