Saint Anthony Hospital offers a wide range of medical imaging and radiological services. The Department of Medical Imaging strives to provide appointments within 24-48 hours; many tests may be provided the same day.
Computed (Axial) Tomography (CT)
With a cutting-edge, 64-slice CT scanner, the Medical Imaging Department provides a full range of CT scanning services, ranging from full-body scanning to non-invasive vascular testing, including arterial flow studies.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a type of scan that creates detailed pictures of the inside of the body using strong magnets and radio waves—without using X-rays. Sometimes, a contrast dye is used to make details clearer.
MRIs take clear, 3D images of organs, muscles, joints, and tissues. They help doctors see problems like injuries, tumors, or diseases. They are painless and don’t involve radiation.
Mammography
A mammogram is a special X-ray used to check for breast cancer and other breast problems. It takes detailed images of breast tissue to help doctors find signs of cancer early, even before symptoms appear.
Mammograms take low-dose X-ray pictures of the breast to detect lumps, tumors, or other changes.
Screening Mammograms – Routine checkups to look for breast cancer in people with no symptoms.
Diagnostic Mammograms – Used when there is a lump, pain, or other breast concerns.
Saint Anthony Hospital has 3-D mammography capability. We also offer appointments Monday through Saturday.
If you are age 40 or older, discuss having an annual screening mammogram done with your physician.
Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a scan that uses sound waves to create images of the inside of the body. It is safe, painless, and does not use radiation.
Ultrasounds show movement, like a baby’s heartbeat or blood flow and can help doctors examine organs, tissues, and guide procedures like biopsies and other medical treatments.
X-Ray
Fast and simple, our radiographic suites provide the latest in imaging quality.
X-rays are a quick and painless way to take pictures of the inside of the body using a small amount of radiation. They help doctors see bones, organs, and tissues to diagnose injuries and illnesses.
X-rays are most used for:
- Bone Injuries – Detecting fractures, breaks, and joint problems.
- Lung & Chest Issues – Checking for pneumonia, lung infections, or fluid buildup.
- Digestive System Problems – Identifying blockages or swallowed objects.
Nuclear Medicine Procedures
Nuclear medicine is a type of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and treat diseases. It helps doctors see how organs and tissues are functioning in real time.
Nuclear Medicine Is Used For:
- Detecting cancer – finding tumors and checking how cancer spreads
- Heart scans – evaluating blood flow and heart function.
- Bone scans – identifying fractures, infections, or arthritis.
- Thyroid and Kidney tests – Assess how well these organs are working
At Saint Anthony Hospital, professional interpretations are rendered by board-certified physicians. Radiologists are on campus 5 days a week and are available for emergency consultation using teleradiology 24 hours a day.
